Ingredients
- ½ cup rolled oats
- ½ cup milk of your choice
- ¼ cup plain yoghurt
- 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
- A pinch of cinnamon
Method
- Stir the oats, milk, yoghurt, chia seeds and cinnamon together in a jar or container.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 4 hours.
- In the morning, loosen with a splash of milk if needed and add your topping.
Four ways to top it
- Banana and peanut butter: sliced banana with a spoonful of peanut butter.
- Berry: a handful of fresh or frozen berries stirred in the night before.
- Apple pie: grated apple, extra cinnamon and a few chopped nuts.
- Tropical: mango or pineapple with a sprinkle of coconut.
Why it works
Oats provide slow-release carbohydrate and soluble fibre, and the yoghurt adds protein. Making it the night before removes the biggest barrier to a good breakfast: time.
